Cheated and mis-behaved in Kolkata

I happened to visit Kolkata from July 20-Aug 1, 2009.On July 27/09, I went to buy some sweets from "New Srikrishna Mistanna Bhandar" at N.S.C.Bose Road near Gandhi Colony, Ranikuthi, Kolkata.First, I bought sweets worth Rs.68/- and then decided to have some tea in the nearby tea- stall, but before taking tea, I thought it would be better to eat some sweets from the aforesaid sweet shop (N.S.M. Bhandar).I ordered for two rasgollas and gave a ten rupee note to the sole saler, a moustached, young handsome boy, perhaps about 26 years of age in the counter. My only fault was that I didn't ask him how much the two r'gollas would cost;rather I thought it would be prudent to eat the sweets slowly so that the boy inside the counter could return me the actual balance. In Kolkata, sweets are cheaper than those at Guwahati, where I live. That was why I thought, I might, perhaps, get Rs.2/- as the balance out of Rs.10/- that I gave him.But since the boy didn't return me any balance, I thought, probably the two r'gollas cost Rs.10/- itself.Thereafter, I left the shop and went to the tea-stall again to have a cup of tea. But, surprisingly, on my way back to my elder brother's flat getting past the sweet shop, the boy at the counter called me back to his shop and told me to pay for the two r'gollas.I told him I already had paid him Rs.10/-, waited for the balance and when he didn't return me any balance, I thought the sweets cost Rs.10/-itself.But, he was adamant and told me to pay for the sweets.Even after swearing with a locket having an imprint of one Hindu God in my hand, I could not convince him that I had already paid for the sweets (two r'gollas).I also told him that a few minutes ago, I bought sweets worth Rs.68/- from him.By then, there were two aged customers standing in the counter and one more boy came inside the counter. But all three kept mum.In order not to create any more chaos, I gave him another ten rupee note and he returned me Rs.4/-,i.e. the two r'gollas actually cost Rs.6/-.Having got back home, I narrated the whole story to all my relatives who vowed themselves not to visit "New Srikrishna Mistanna Bhandar" again in future. But, I'll never forget this incident of Kolkata in the rest of my life.Still to-day, I pray to God and tell Him to punish that boy.
